Cananga essential oil is Ylang ylang's sister oil. It is not as sweet as Ylang, but I find it to be lovely. I prefer to blend with Cananga. It is a bit greener and softer.
Cananga comes from the same genus and species as Ylang Ylang but is a different variety. The variety that Cananga comes from is macrophylla, hence, Cananga odorata var macrophylla.

The difference between Cananga and Ylang Ylang is that Cananga has higher amounts of the sesquiterpene, Beta-caryophyllene.
