Guaiacwood Essential Oil

Acknowledged by the German Commission E Monographs and the British Herbal Pharmacopoeia for rheumatism & rheumatoid arthritis. Used for gout & fluid retention as well.  Some sources recommend guaiacwood as a venous and lymphatic decongestant, as well as pelvic congestion that contributes to PMS..
A very popular oil with perfumers because of its depth of aroma and fixative qualities. Some sources say it has skin healing benefits, and is indicated for fungal conditions on the skin.
Natives of the Chaco regions use the bark to treat stomach problems. 
 
Please be aware that this is a very thick, paste-like oil, and will need to be warmed to about 104-122 degrees in order to liquefy.

Traditional Use of Guaiacwood

Botany
A small tropical tree that grows up to 4 meters, has a decorative hardwood that varies in color from olive green to chocolate brown.
 
Traditional Folklore & Uses
A sacred tree to the natives of Paraguay. Sometimes referred to as “Palo Santo” meaning “holy wood”. Traditionally the wood was used for ornamental craving.
Guaiacwood is an excellent fixative, especially for woody-floral perfumes. In the past has been used to adulterate Rose absolute as well as sandalwood & amryis.
Used in elixirs for venereal disease, gout & mouthwashes by Valnet. It is also used in varnishes & dark paints.
The wood is burned as incense during spiritual rituals.
