Traditional Use of Juniper, Utah /Sage Brush - Sedona Distillation
Great Western Sage Artemesia tridentata GW Sage is a dominate species throughout the Western U.S. plant community. Being of the Artemisia family (worm woods), this plant is a known vermifuge. Indigenous cultures have used GW Sage for coughs, colds, headaches, stomach aches, fevers, internal bleeding and to relieve pain during child birthing. Poultices of wet leaves applied to bruises reduce swelling. GW Sage is also used for “smudging”, or ceremonial purification.
Utah Juniper Juniperus osteosperma/Juniperus utahensis Utah or Desert Juniper is mostly connected to ailments of the bladder, kidneys and skin. The leaves are antiseptic, used for a blood tonic and as a laxative. Can be used to treat toothaches, sore and swollen gums. Good for stomach aches, kidney complaints, hemorrhages, coughs and colds and respirtory issues. Induces urination, good to relieve menstrual cramps, fevers, coughs and colds.
